This is the Prologue

When asked if she had liked St. Paul's when she was a student the narrator replies with a sour face that relieves the black children.  Why do you think that the narrator didn't like her time at St. Pauls, and why do you think this relieves the students that hear it?

Why do you think the narrator wants the black students to think of the school as 'their' school?

Where do you think the narrator is going with all of this?

CONNECTOR Chapters 1-3

-I saw a connection to my life when the author was talking about her interview with the school princlpal, because I had to do that to get into FA and I can understand how nerve wracking it can be.

-I also saw a connection to how she felt about her new school and about how she felt it was a great opportunity for her to excel her academic career.

-I also saw simularities to my life when the principal asked the first year student how her year was going to give Lorene a good idea of what she would be doing.  AT FA sometimes tour guides would ask me how my year was going and what thinks I liked and disliked about the school.

Chapters 9-10

Note Taker!!

Chapters 11-end.

I related to Lorene in this chapter at GRADUATION!!!! I remember my 8th Grade graduation and how accomplished and proud I felt as we walked down and received our diplomas.

I can mildly relate to how she felt about receiving the present from her teacher, not in the sense that teachers give me presents, but in the sense that receiving a gift can mean a lot to someone.  Sometimes when I get birthday cards from my grandparents I feel so happy that they took time to think of me and write to me.
